The type of infrastructure and emergency services needed in Carteret County vary greatly in each community. It is important to evaluate and provide these services according to their individual needs. It is equally as important to be aware of what types of services will be compatible with the environment, then make decisions and plans that will enhance, not harm the environment. It is also important to support the efforts of individual services, to work together as a unit for the good of all citizens.
Consequently, when services are expanded, cost tend to increase. That is why it is imperative to find innovative ways to fund these services. This can be done through grants and pilot programs, instead of raising taxes. Cost can also be reduced through re-examination of operating practices and efficiency improvements.
As your County Commissioner, I will work to give each individual area the attention and cooperation needed to improve services, while encouraging all departments to continue working together. I will also work to help find funding for these services.
