Preserving Local Heritage
Carteret County boast a heritage that is second to none. From the whaling industry, commercial fishing, boat building, recreational fishing, tourism, military service, and so many other areas. We need to preserve our heritage in all of these aspects. Preserving these roots of Carteret County is of the up most importance.

Creating museums and stocking the ones we already have is only a small part of this. Keeping a written history, and re-enactments of the happenings that made Carteret County what it is, is only a small part of what needs to be done also. One of the best ways to preserve the heritage of Carteret County is to keep these things alive. Most of them are still around and can be kept around for generations to come. It will take proper planning, and serious effort by our elected officials, and citizens alike. We need to recognize the importance of our heritage, and it's value to our local economy and growth.

There is plenty of room to promote our local heritage, and preserve it at the same time. As your County Commissioner, I will work to preserve our local heritage, by finding ways to promote our history, while keeping that history alive.
