Promotion of Tourism in Carteret County

Tourism has been a big part of Carteret County for the past 100 years or more. Over the past few decades as Carteret County has grown, much of the growth can be attributed to tourism. There are a great many people in Carteret County that depend on tourism for some, if not all of their income. Most citizens of our area know this and recognize this. It is a vibrant industry, with room to grow and flourish.
As Carteret County has grown and technology has increased, the array of activities available in our area has grown also. Every day someone comes up with new ideas and ways to utilize our resources to attract tourist. Although this has been for the most part successful, it has had an effect that has changed the landscape of Carteret County many times. One of the changes has been the influx of people to our area. We now face a decision of how we want to promote tourism in the future. We must decide if we want to continue drawing people here for our beaches, our rivers, our heritage, our quaint lifestyle, or all of the fore mentioned qualities and resources.
Carteret County offers something for almost everyone. If you prefer to enjoy the amenities of a condo or beach side hotel, or the laid back pleasures of a small fishing camp, we have that to offer. Should you wish to stroll along one of our municipal streets shopping and dinning, or boating and hiking, Carteret County has a spot for you. Should you desire to be among other tourist visiting for the first time, or relish in the local lifestyle and banter, Carteret County is the place to be. We offer many chances to live out your dreams, and have memories to cherish forever.
As your County Commissioner, I will work with our Tourism Board and citizens to promote present attractions, and create new and exciting attractions to our area.
